I always claimed that I wasn’t the blogging type, although I’d be hardpressed to explain just what type that would be. But after finishing a 6-year stint as a high school English teacher to invest in my own two baby girls (ages 2 and 4 months) I find that the English side of me still longs for some kind of outlet and discussion.
I’ve discovered that having a toddler and baby makes it impossible to have one adult conversation from begining to end without interruption. By the time they’re both in bed at 8pm the introverted side of me makes even the thought of talking on the phone tiring. Community is hard to find and even harder to sustain in this new life of young motherhood, especially for a social introvert. I did not decide to blog as a last ditch effort at finding community or at keeping in deeper touch with friends. Do I believe that community can be found in online interractions? Definitely. Do I think it is all that one needs? Definitely not. There’s something to be said about face-to-face interractions and community, where exposure of our inner thoughts and beings are connected with a physical presence.
At any rate, here I am. Looking forward to connecting with you…
